In Arizona there more men who reported current and heavy alcohol use, it is especially notable that more than a fifth of men surveyed indicated binge alcohol use in the past 30 days. Whites were most likely to report alcohol use in the past 30 days; those reporting an “other” race/ethnicity were most likely to binge drink; and American Indians/Alaska Natives were most likely to report heavy alcohol use. American Indians/ Alaska Natives were the least likely to report past 30-day alcohol use, but the most likely to report heavy alcohol use.

• “Binge” alcohol use is defined by the BRFSS as having five or more drinks on one occasion.
• “Heavy” alcohol use is defined as an average daily consumption of one or more drinks a day (females)or two or more drinks a day (males).
